Former interim UFC welterweight champion Carlos Condit apparently training for Nick Diaz rematch

It seems like people have forgotten about Nick Diaz during little brother Nate’s rise to acclaim against Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight king Conor McGregor.

That tends to happen as one fighter begins to cash in on potential when another rides the pine due to suspension. But despite taking a backseat to his younger sibling for once, Diaz’s return to the Octagon is still a highly-anticipated event.

Luckily for fight fans, former UFC Welterweight champion Carlos Condit has allegedly announced via Snapchat (h/t BJPenn.com) that he’s in training to fight Diaz. Condit won the interim 170-pound title by defeating Diaz via unanimous decision back at UFC 143. Since then, “The Natural Born Killer” has gone toe-to-toe in two epic championship fights with Georges St-Pierre and Robbie Lawler.

If Condit is in fact preparing for a rematch with Diaz, it will have to happen after August considering the Stockton native is currently serving an 18-month suspension dating back to his 2015 scrap with Anderson Silva at UFC 183.

With Lawler currently scheduled to defend his Welterweight title opposite Tyron Woodley at UFC 201 on July 30, a Condit vs Diaz reboot could very well serve as a No. 1 contender’s bout.
